Workshop: Light Microscopy - a Multi Functional Perspective

Light Microscopy is the most widely used form of microscopy for research in the life sciences. The precise setup of the microscope and optimising the image quality (e.g. contrast, resolution) as needed for the different applications are crucial in obtaining the best results out of a light microscope.

Mr. R. Patchamuthu is currently the Laboratory Manager at Quest International University Perak. He has been involved with Light Microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive X-Ray microanalysis and Ultramicrotomy since 1975. He received his education and training in electron microscopy in City of Westminister (Paddington) College, Polytechnic of South Bank and Middlesex Hospital Medical School, London. He has conducted Electron Microscopy training workshops in many public and private universities, manufacturing industries and research institutions including VRI, MPOB and the Malaysian Nuclear Agency. He has previously served as the Laboratory Manager at the Electron Microscopy Unit in Universiti Sains Malaysia.
