This two days course is designed for people who are not directly involved in welding technology to have an insight into the various important aspects of welding technology. These aspects are   outlined in a simple manner for their knowledge and easy understanding and help to achieve the following objectives.


Objectives

Knowledge and understanding of

  • the common welding processes, consumables and equipment used

  • the common welding terminologies and definitions

  • welding quality requirements

  • welding inspection and common weld defects

  • various testing methods

 

Contents

  • Common welding processes e.g. SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW

  • Welding terminologies and definitions

  • Types of welding consumables e.g. electrode, wire, flux, rod, shielding gas

  • Welding equipment and power source

  • Quality requirements in welding

  • Mechanical and non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques

  • Weld defects/imperfection

  • Welding symbols
