This two days course is designed to give plant personnel a basic knowledge & understanding on many metallurgical aspects, particularly the behaviour of steels and aluminium during welding.

Objectives

Knowledge and understanding of

  • the structural and metallurgical changes of steel (carbon alloy/stainless) and aluminium during welding

  • material properties and testing

  • basic methods of heat treatment

  • weldability problems involving ferrous and non-ferrous materials

 

Contents

 

  • Alloys and phase diagrams

  • Iron-carbon equilibrium diagrams

  • Heat treatment

  • Structure of welded joints

  • Weldability of carbon and alloy steels

  • Weldability of stainless steel (ferritic, martensitic, austenitic and duplex)

  • Weldability of aluminium

 

 

Who Should Attend

 

Engineers, technicians , plant supervisors & QAQC personnel who are involved in welding operations or  in industries where welding is widely used in order to enhance their knowledge and understanding of basic welding metallurgy.
