Choosing the right person for the right job is a significant responsibility affecting not only the candidate and his/her career expectations, but the team of which they become part and ultimately the organizations’ ability
to achieve work objectives. To make an informed hiring decision requires an understanding of the intricacies of the interviewing process, and a knowledge of how to conduct an interview consistent with identified job competencies and staffing values. Based
on the theory that past behavior predicts future performance in a work environment, this program will train Directors and Managers on how to develop their Behavioral Interviewing Skills, which - when used - will help to improve hiring decisions based on the
applicant’s previous accomplishments instead of their own personal biases and gut feelings.
The selection of the correct person for a position is crucial – not only so that they meet the requirements of the job and have the necessary skills but also because the person needs to fit with your team and organizational
culture. Choosing the wrong candidate for the job is costly in terms of training and reduced morale and productivity within a team. The costs and time involved in dismissing this person is extensive.
