GSCM was jointly established by three centers within the MIT Global SCALE Network: MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics, Zaragoza Logistics Center and Malaysia Institute for Supply Chain Innovation.
The curriculum of the program is modeled on the supply chain management (SCM) master program at MIT and is built upon the supply chain courses taught in the MIT Global SCALE Network programs.

Malaysia Institute for Supply Chain Innovation (MISI) was launched as a joint initiative between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Government of Malaysia in 2011. MISI is an independent, stand-alone degree granting academic institution established under the Malaysian law. MISI is Wholly owned by Malaysia Logistics Innovation Berhad (936566-D) a subsidiary of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
MISI is a member of the MIT Global SCALE (Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence) Network. The MIT Global SCALE Network is an international alliance of leading edge research and educational organizations, dedicated to the development and dissemination of global innovation in supply chain and logistics. The MIT Global SCALE Network currently consist of 6 centers located in North America, Asia, Europe and South America.
