introductory course will guide you through taking your models in 3ds max and transfer it into a 'real-time' archive file that can be viewed using a VR headset.
At the end of the course
- Students will have a practical experience and understand the workflow in creating a real-time Architecture Visualisation project ready for use with Virtual Reality.
- Students will be able to take their Archviz work in 3ds max and transfer them into Unreal Engine 4 to make it 'Playable' in Virtual Reality
- Understand how to use the unreal engine material editor
- Students will know the different lightings available in Unreal Engine 4

Module 1: Setting up 3ds Max
- File/system unit scale
- Preparing your scripts
- Vray-standard Material converter
- Ts Tools

- Editing TS_TOOLS
Module 2: Getting 3ds max model ready for unreal engine
- Materials name
- Mesh name
- Ensure system unit scale is in cm
- Convert Vray Materials to standard*
- Ungrouping and removing lights/camera
- Removing backface cull
- Steamroller Script
- Ts tools export to FBX
- FBX Settings
- TS tools copy locations
Module 3: Basic Navigating in unreal engine
- Creating a new Project
- Using a blank project type with no starter content
- Choosing the first person shooter project type
- Moving around in unreal engine
- Layouts
Module 4: Exporting models and importing into unreal engine
- Import objects without ts tools
- Importing objects(no collision and no uv unwrap)
- Copy locations using ts_tools
Module 5: Lighting
- Adding a skybox
- Skylight and lightmass portal

- Lightmass Importance Volume
- First build to check for missing uv unwrap
