The course on radiation safety is primarily directed to the safety of workers,
members of the public and the environment by emphasising aspects of radiation
protection, in line with the requirement of the Atomic Energy Licensing Act 1984.
The increasing use of ionising radiation in various sectors demands a
comprehensive implementation of the Atomic Energy Licensing Act which requires
all those involved with the use of ionising radiation to have a Radiation Protection
Officer and properly trained radiation workers. It is an important for employer to
carry out a process of risk assessment that will enable them to decide the policies,
procedures and trained personnel they must have in place to meet their statutory
health and safety requirements.
This half-day seminar is specially designed to create radiation safety awareness in
the company to enable them to review their own safety systems, and also
introducing new controls or implementing changes as appropriate to ensure the
safety of workers at their workplace.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • To provide basic understanding of 'working safely' with emphasize on radiation safety
  • Generating the awareness on the risks and effects of ionising radiation
  • To improve knowledge of safety awareness and legislative requirements
  • To recognize the importance of having the safety management system in an organisation
