Inaugurated as a voluntary society on 29 January 1966, the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) was incorporated as a limited company on 28 March 1975. As the national management organisation, MIM’s primary role is to promote management
skills across Malaysia, exposing Malaysian companies to management best practice from all corners of the globe. It also acts as an important bridge between the private and public sectors.
Independent, non-political and not-for-profit, MIM serves as a platform for the free exchange of management ideas and experience, bringing together managers and organisations from all walks of life. It is also a development centre, committed to enhancing
and maintaining professional management standards.
Among MIM’s core products and services, are management development programmes designed to improve participants’ skills and know-how. All MIM course facilitators are highly experienced trainers, practitioners and
consultants who understand and practice adult learning methodology. Programmes are attuned to market needs, preparing individuals for current and future work demands.
MIM draws strength from its individual and corporate membership which includes representatives from virtually all areas of economic activity throughout Malaysia. Each year, MIM accords Honorary Fellowships, the highest grade of membership, Court of Emeritus
Fellow and General Council member status to outstanding individuals who’ve contributed significantly to the field of management.
As a professional body, each MIM member is asked to contribute a registration fee and annual subscription. These funds are channeled back through the upgrading of facilities, improvement of existing training programmes, and development of new ones to keep
members abreast of the latest in management theory and practice. Continuing Professional Development Talks additionally provide an ideal opportunity for members to network with peers from various industries and backgrounds.
