Training needs analysis allows you to directly link the skills needed within the organisation with your current skill level.This course equips you with the skills required to carry out a training needs analysis. You will be able to make recommendations and implement findings to ensure a good return on your training investment.

Outline

DAY 1
Module 1:Identifying Training Needs in Your Organization

  • identifying training needs in a business-driven context
  • linking to corporate vision, strategy and organisational objectives
  •  identifying training needs revealed by business performance shortfall.
     

Module 2: The Systematic Model for Training Needs Analysis:

  • understanding the stages of the systematic training needs analysis model;
  • identifying residual, present and future training needs

Module 3: Collecting and Analyzing of Information:

  • gather pertinent information about knowledge and skills requirements for specific job competencies
  • find out reliable sources of information
  • utilize and adapt survey instruments, questionnaires, interviews, observation.

DAY 2:
Module 4: Developing Solutions:

  • appropriate training interventions
  • producing the initial action plan
  • determining priorities
  • identifying ‘achievement windows'
  • defining costs, success criteria and benefits.

Module 5: Preparing Reports:

  • structuring written reports and presentations on training needs and priorities
  • writing behavioural objectives
  • using persuasive techniques and follow-up activities to support recommendations

Module 6: Calculating Return on Investment (ROI):

  • techniques of measuring your ROI
  •  Using ROIs to pitch your proposals

Work Experience
Dr Dass comes with 30 years of HR, Learning and Development corporate work and training experience. Early in his career, Dr Dass worked for SMEs’ and MNC before setting up his own human resource and training practice. 
 
He worked as a HR Manager in a leading Real Estate Agency with a work force of about 500, before he moved on to Electrolux Group, as their Training Manager at the Electrolux Business School. Here, he helped to design, deliver and evaluate training programs conducted at all levels. He had personally commissioned a video shoot on operations cleaning for the cleaners which is still being used. He ran supervisory, executive and management development programs at the Electrolux Business School. 
 
Dr Dass was the CEO and  Principal of Skills and Management Institute of SKB. During his tenure, he also developed and organized conventions, boot camps for the real estate agents. He can be mentioned as the pioneer who created a systematic training curriculum for the real estate industry in Malaysia
 
Dr Dass also has served at leading private and public universities including institutions from Australia, UK, USA and France, who are affiliated with local universities. Some modules taught by him, includes, Change Management, Leadership, Human Resource Management, Adult and Continuing Education.

Syamsul has been actively in the field of Training/Learning and Development for more than 15 years.  He has trained and developed hundreds of people being an in-house trainer/facilitator in various organisations that he had worked with.  He always emphasizes that it is the passion for training and educating people that has ignited him to pursue a career in the training and development.  With his over 20 year experiences in the field of Human Resources and Industrial Relations Management, his credentials in the training field were gained over the years with passionate and love for knowledge.

Passionate in people’s management and development, he became an in-house Licensed Facilitator of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  He further marked his journey in establishing an international collaborated Leadership Programme and won for the Company an international Award for the Asian Region.
 
Syamsul has great experiences to share with, in the human resources and industrial relations management in both unionised or non-unionised environment, as well as Learning & Development and Human Capital/Talent Management.
 
Over time, inspired from the 7 Habits programme, he came out with his own programme : ‘Jadi Pro-Aktif, Jadi Positif’ which has enlightened many individuals in various levels in the organisation. Syamsul was a national Rugby player and active in outdoor activities and sports.
